The primary purpose of this association is the advancement of musical knowledge and education through discussion, investigation, performance, publication, and the promotion of the general welfare of music teachers in the state of North Carolina. Activities of this organization are aimed both at the promotion of the art of music and of the advancement of musical knowledge both by disseminating the knowledge of educational activities and by promoting the appreciation of music throughout the state.

Congratulations to all NCMTA state performance competition winners, alternates, honorable mentions and their teachers. Congratulations to NCMTA students who placed in the MTNA Southern Division Competition in January. Best of luck to the Southern Division winners who will compete in the national competition in New York in March!
